Mid-season Report:

Where do i start? Pre-season went quite well, playing eight games and getting to look at our very big squad. Then we added a few more players making it 21!

We thought that we were ready for the season ahead of us, but, maybe we weren't? Taking a very heavy loss to Notts Nova at home was very hard for all of us. The season had only just started and we all needed a boost and it needed to come quickly....... We then won on the road at Coventry Tornadoes and Derby, followed by a very close win against playoff contenders Leicester at home. Confidence was now starting to improve and so were the players. Getting 21 players to training sessions every week to fight for a place in the team is great for the coaches and the team. We then travelled to Wellingborough for a tough game and eventually winning, then back to Nechells for two home games, one good win against Arden and the other against Coventry Trojans, down for most of the game, but eventually showing some heart and pulling out a win that we probably didn't deserve. So, we get to Christmas 6 and 1 and sat 2nd in the league.

We then added two more players to the squad (Nash and Keanu) and then getting ready for the three day CoB U14 Christmas camp. This took place in Kidderminster where we met on a cold Wednesday (28th December) at a very early 8am! 19 players in total (17 CoB U14s and two invites) all on time, all divided into three teams, beds sorted, kitted up and ready to go. Over the next few days they had eight 2 hour training sessions, around six hours of games, 3 point shootout, layup and free throw comp. Finally coming to an end at 5.30pm on Friday 30th December, we were finished! A great time was had by all, but more importantly we (Me and Rob) gained so much and so did the players. A big thank you to The Coaches - Rob Palmer, Ezran Little and Simon Fisher and a big thank you to Julie Ramsdale-Owen for helping with breakfast (feeding the animals) and finally Ramla for organising us (the coaches) and players, all the food/drink/dvd's etc for the whole three days.

I'm very pleased and excited to be coaching this season's U14s having coached the same age group last season.

The squad of 18 players have so far been a pleasure to coach and we have some new players to add to the ones from last season. I hope the new guys - Harry, Jack and Louis enjoy playing for CoB and have a good season.

Pre season so far has gone very well for the U14s. The guys have been working very hard on their fitness and skill work.
Pre season friendlies are going to be tough, with Manchester, Cheshire, Newcastle, Ipswich, Notts Nova, Stockport and Sheffield will all be tough opposition ! But, hopefully this will prepare us for the hard season ahead.
